Renaming A Custom Template

This article will help you rename a custom template. This is particularly useful if you wish to take advantage of the new "Default Template Family" feature on the Templates page in the Build Profile Editor.

  1. Open the template directory in Windows Explorer. This is located in C:\ProgramData\Innovasys\documentx2018\templates for Bundle users and Document! X users. For HelpStudio users, it is located in C:\ProgramData\Innovasys\helpstudio2018\templates.
  2. From there, you need to then select your custom template - they are arranged into folders by type. For example, for a custom topics template named "Test" is would be located in C:\ProgramData\Innovasys\documentx2018\templates\TOPICS\Test (for Bundle and Document! X users), or C:\ProgramData\Innovasys\helpstudio2018\templates\TOPICS\Test for HelpStudio users.
  3. The next step requires you to rename the "Test" directory in Windows Explorer to the name you desire for your template - such as "InnovasysCustom".
  4. You will then also need to edit the config.xml file included in that directory (in Notepad or your preferred text editor). On the second line, you need to edit the template name to your new name: e.g. From Template Name="Test" to Template Name="InnovasysCustom"

You can also optionally set the template name to be the same name as a Browser Help Template (and other templates) to take advantage of the Default Template Family selection in the 2016.1 and later versions:

This allows you to quickly and easily switch between different template sets via the Template menu in the Build Profile editor.
