Runtime merge, missing TOC

Hi,

I've got two Document!X projects that are built as CHM files, and then a master Help Studio project that is also built as CHM and merges the two DocX projects into it. All is fine except that my TOC nodes for the DocX projects are not visible unless those child CHMs are present at the same location as the master CHM, almost like the child TOC functionality in Help Studio is broken. I noticed the KB article http://www.innovasys.com/support/kbarticle.aspx?articleid=030b412a-c268-43c4-ba52-aa48e8de22a3 but that doesn't really apply to me because I'm not merging .hsp projects. My .dxp projects are named the same as my CHMs anyway.

Since all of the content (*.html) files are merged into the master CHM, it seems redundant to have to ship the child CHMs along with it. The supporting files for the child CHMs (.hhc, etc) are located in the same build location as all CHMs where the two child CHMs and the master CHM is located when built.

Any ideas?

As a follow-up to help anyone else running into this problem, I realized my mistake. I was building all three of my projects (the two DocX projects and the Help Studio project) in the same folder. Help Studio compiles all *.html files in the build folder regardless of whether it generated them or not, so it was compiling about 31K files. I moved my build folder for the master to a sub-folder and then copied the child CHMs and their supporting files (*.hhc, *.hhk, and *.hhp) to that folder. I have to "ship" three separate CHM files now but the combined size is now managable, i.e. it's not twice the size that it should be.
