When I save a HelpStudio 3 project where all my topics are managed as separate files in a Topics folder, as Document!X project, the topics contents are merged into the Document!X project file.
Is there a way to keep them as separate files in a Topics folder?
Topic content will be split into individual files when the project is under source control otherwise topic content will be saved in the .hsp / .dxp file.
Thinking about this for a while: Where is the profit in saving content in a project file that is not under source control?
I do not expect an answer - I am just wondering.
Storing content in a single file is our preferred approach; a project consists of a set of highly interlinked items and keeping all of them in a single file makes them easier for users to move around, reduces the chance of isolated items being accidentally deleted / overwritten, allows us to store a .bak backup copy that contains the entire project and generally makes it easier for Document! X to ensure the integrity of the project as a whole.
For Source Control scenario, we need to separate out into several files in order to allow individual project items to be worked on by different users, but in the Source Control scenario there is less chance of accidental deletion / overwriting.
