Creating New Topics?

Hi all,

I'm quite new to this tool. I use Document! X to create documentation for a type library (.tlb). However, I have other related information that I would like to include as separate topics. For example, I have some sample scripts I would like to include at the beginning of my documentation and would like to link to them. Is there a way to create new topics with these scripts and then put these topics in the TOC and link to them?

I see on the project screen on the sidebar under "Contents" that there's an "Additional Files" link. I can insert these scripts as additional .htm files, but how do I get at them? Link to them from other pages?

  If you open the Project and select Table of Contents option found under the Content heading in the left hand navigation pane. Select the "Use a custom Table of Content layout specific to this project" choose the single project setting and then click OK. Once this is done you can add new nodes to your Table of Contents and select the Specific File or URL radio button thus making them links to Additional Files (assuming you have already added the additional files to the Project). If you haven't already added the files you can select the Additional Files option found just below the Table of Contents option.

In addition, HelpStudio includes the Document! X member tree on it’s hyperlink designer dialog which makes it simple to create links from your HelpStudio content to Document! X generated topics.

  Mike and Richard,

  Thanks for your replies. I've successfully added these .htm files into the TOC. Now, how can I now link to them from one of the automatically generated pages?

  (HelpStudio isn't an option since we already use RoboHelp for our main help documentation, so I have to work within those parameters.)

  Nevermind. I figured out how to link to those files by using the link to URL option and typing in the .htm filename.
