HelpStudio 3 not finding templates

Anyone else having trouble with HelpStudio3 not finding its templates? The File-New dialog has a list of templates, but trying to actually create the new project dumps an error when copying the templates. The Tools-Options dialog has a template list, and this list is empty, rather than listing the files in c:\programdata\innovasys Attempting to open an existing project fails also. Anyone else had this? (HelpStudio 3.5.2.5 on a 64 bit Win2008 Server)

  The closest I've come to this Help Studio not liking that the template folder name doesn't match the name in config.xml.

  I got help from support. The answer involved uninstalling DocX and HelpStudio, deleting the template folder and the registry key for innovasys, then reinstalling in order: * DocX 2008 * HelpStudio 3 * DocX 2010 This dance with installers repaired whatever it was that was causing the problem. Why DocX2008 and 2010? Because HelpStudio 3 doesn't talk to DocX 2010 yet.

  I spoke too soon. Today the error message is back, and the build fails again. Frustrating...

  We resolved this issue via the support channel, but I thought I should post the resolution here.

  Turns out that the customer had modified the registry settings for the template configuration path to a path that did not contain the HelpStudio templates. Once the faulty registry entry was removed, the templates were available again.

  new install and the hsp file cannot locate my customized template. What files do I need to bring over to my new drive in order to find my customized template? Configuration? UIMapper? And what would the proper registry path be? I just reinstalled HS3 on a new hard drive because the previous one failed. I did not lose data so I was able to bring the entire directory. My customized template file should be somewhere, I just don't know the location. HELP. thanks Chris Oace

  Your custom templates live in one of two places, depending on your OS. Vista/Win7: c:\ProgramData\Innovasys\ XP: c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\AppData\Innovasys You may discover your help studio templates living inside the DocumentX folder - a bit confusing, but this is how it goes... You used to be able to manually override the default location by setting a path in registry, but this isn't really supported in the newer versions of HS and DocX. Just use the default locations listed above.
