I have an ActiveX component project that uses the Platform SDK style template. In the Template Editor, I edit the Platform SDK style template (I edited one of the page layouts - method.html). I save and close and click OK.
When I rebuild the project and look at one of the methods in the CHM file -- I don't see my changes to the template applied.
How do I get the project to "refresh" the template with my edits?
If you have a project open you should close and reopen the project to see the template changes.
Thanks, but that didn't solve it. I tried exiting, rebooting, and re-opening my project (several times).
My project uses the Platform SDK style template (I can see that in the Template and Locale settings). In my content file, Full-Page-Edit / Preview Template is also set to Platform SDK style (I can see that in Content Properties).
When I preview my interfaces, properties, and methods, I can see the changes that I made to the method.html and property.html page layouts.
But - when I build and look at the CHM - I don't see my page layout changes. I see the original page layouts before my changes.
By the way, my changes to the Table of Contents for the template are showing up in the CHM - just not my page layout changes.
I am using Document! X 5.1.1.0
This is puzzling, as there is no backup or cached version of the standard templates - any changes you make would be immediate. Could you check that the output files are not read only, and that their timestamp reflects the latest build.
If this is not the cause, could you send me a copy of your .dxp and a ZIP of your template folder (beneath c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\innovasys\documentx5\) so that I can investigate further. Send the files directly to support@innovasys.com.
I finally got it to work and your request for the .dxp file gave me a clue. I looked at it in a text editor and saw the setting:
ClearBeforeBuild="False"
This made me think that something from the original template output was not getting cleaned up. I wasn't sure what setting to change, but I deleted the contents of my DocumentX folder and re-built the project. This finally allowed my template changes to kick in.
So, I'm not sure what I would need to change in the UI to get the same effect of cleaning the output so my template changes get applied in the future. For now, I know that if I change the template, I have to delete the DocumentX folder.
