Slow Opening of project in Windows 7

We're running Helpstudio on a laptop running Windows 7, with the following spec:

Intel Core 2 duo 2.66GHz
4GB Ram
32 bit OS

We're working on a project in source control, and opening the project is taking a very long time.  Is there any reason why this would be the case?
As the project is opening, you can see the slow speed as the name of each topic appears at the bottom of the screen as it is being opened.  It takes over a half a second per document, where as usually it scrolls through these quite quickly.

Any help you can give would be great.

  I've just got a new desktop PC with Windows 7 - and have the same problem. Just takes a lot longer to open an HS Project. I was wondering if it is something to do with the new security defaults in Windows 7?

  Hi there,
  We found our problem was caused by the anti virus software that was running on the machine. Once we'd fiddled with the settings on this, it ran as per usual.

  Hi,

  Could you please share which settings were updated and what values they were given?

  I understand they'll vary between the different anti-virus softwares, but it would still be helpful to narrow them down.
