What CSS rules does HelpStudio recognize? Should it be possible to use selectors such as ':first-child' in the HelpStudio customstyles.css file, because it does not appear to be working. This would make life working with tables infinitely easier - but I don't want to bang my head against the wall troubleshooting if it is not supported at all.
Whilst you are editing, HelpStudio will reflect the CSS rendering of IE. If you are generating CHM output, IE once again will be the CSS / rendering engine. If you are creating help for use in a browser, then you would need to identify what CSS that browser supports and design your stylesheets for that.
From a quick google, it looks like you need a DOCTYPE in generated Html files for the :first-child css selector to work. You could try creating a custom Template in HelpStudio and modifying the standard.html to include a DOCTYPE like this:
