testing the product and finding working with the schemas area very slow. The database is Oracle 11g and as all the schemas are included by default - getting to the point where only one of the shemas would be selected, takes hours!
My concern is that this will be true also when moving to the scheme objects.
Is there something one could do either to have none of the schemas selected by default or otherwise speed it up.

I believe that the most effective approach here with very large oracle databases containing multiple schemas is to define an Oracle login that ony has access permissions to the schemas you want to document - you can then use that login in the Database Documentation Project. This will minimize the database queries that Document! X executes against the database and speed up the Project Explorer operations.

I have the same problem, documenting Oracle 11g, very slow work in schema area, esp. checking out unnecessary system schemas (ca. 10).
I want other 12 schemas to be documented, but checking them right takes hours.
Making a user in DB, that only has accesss to objects of interest is really not an option.
In Oracle, you cannot define a role that has access to all objects in given schema, rather you must give access to individual objects. That makes thousands of GRANTs in my case.
And that's definitelly unacceptable to wait that much just to check/uncheck schema at this stage.
Please support a valid solution within the system.
This is much quicker for SQL Server (at least system schemas are by default out), why treat Oracle users that bad?

Many thanks for your feedback. I can certainly appreciate the frustration caused by the slow performance when working with large Oracle databases. We do have plans to improve the experience for Oracle database documentation in a future update - initially by providing for a schema filter on the connection properties. I don't have any timescale on that at present I'm afraid, but I have added your email to the notification list so you will get a notification as soon as enhanced functionality in this area is available.
